Your Senior Photography Experience
What to Expect When You Book Your Senior Photos
Senior year is such an exciting season of life, and I'm so honored you're considering me to help capture it.
Whether you're just beginning to explore senior photographers in the Twin Cities or you're ready to book your session, I want the entire experience to feel simple, enjoyable, and completely personalized. From choosing the perfect location to helping you feel confident in front of the camera, I'll guide you every step of the way.
Here's what you can expect when you book your senior photography session with Anna Sabas Photography.
Step One
Reach Out
It all starts with a quick inquiry.
Simply fill out my Contact Form and tell me a little about yourself, the type of session you're looking for, and which package feels like the best fit. If you're still deciding, don't worry - that's completely normal! I'm always happy to answer questions and help you choose the option that's right for you. Once I receive your inquiry, we'll compare calendars and find a date that works well for everyone.
Step Two
Secure Your Session
Once we've chosen a date, I'll send over your booking agreement along with an invoice for your session retainer.
The agreement is signed by a parent or legal guardian (if the senior is under 18) and, together with the retainer, officially reserves your session date. Because I accept a limited number of sessions each season, dates are held exclusively for clients who have completed both steps.
This allows me to provide every senior with the time, planning, and personalized experience they deserve.
Step Three
Tell Me About You
Next, you'll receive a short questionnaire.
This is one of my favorite parts of the planning process because it helps me get to know you beyond your name and school.
You'll share things like:
- Your high school
- Activities, sports, or hobbies
- The overall style or vibe you're drawn to
- Locations that catch your eye
- Any special interests you'd love to incorporate into your session
The more I know about you, the more personal and meaningful your senior photos become.
Step Four
Choosing the Perfect Location
One of the biggest questions seniors ask is -
"Where should we take my senior pictures?"
Based on your questionnaire, I'll recommend locations that match the style you're looking for.
Whether you're dreaming of colorful flowers, open fields, lakes, architecture, wooded trails, or something modern and unique, I have a variety of favorite locations throughout Plymouth, Wayzata, Minnetonka, Maple Grove, and the greater Twin Cities area.
Sometimes the places I recommend may not look like much at first glance—but I promise there's a reason I chose them. Beautiful light is everything, and I simply ask that you trust the process.
Of course, if you already have a location that's meaningful to you, I'd love to hear your ideas. I'm always happy to explore somewhere new!
Step Five
Planning Your Session
Once we've selected the perfect location, we'll determine the best start time.
Almost all of my outdoor senior sessions take place during Golden Hour - the hour after sunrise or the last couple of hours before sunset, when the light is soft, warm, and incredibly flattering.
Depending on the location and the time of year, we typically begin either:
- Within the first hour after sunrise, or
- Approximately two hours before sunset.
The exact timing varies throughout the year, and I'll let you know your official start time as we get closer to your session.
Step Six
Outfit Inspiration
Choosing outfits is one of the most exciting parts of preparing for your senior session - but it can also feel a little overwhelming.
If you'd like some guidance, I've created a complete Senior Style Guide filled with outfit inspiration, color recommendations, styling tips, and ideas for creating variety throughout your gallery.
You'll also receive additional inspiration by email if you'd like.
Still can't decide?
Send me photos of your outfit options! I'm always happy to help you narrow them down and plan which outfit works best for each location.
Step Seven
Final Planning
About one to two weeks before your session, I'll reach out to confirm all of the details.
We'll go over:
- Your location
- Meeting spot
- Start time
- Outfits
- Any last-minute questions
Occasionally we may make small adjustments if weather, lighting, or seasonal conditions call for a different plan. My goal is always to create the best possible experience - and the best possible photos.
Then, the day before your session, I'll send one final message to confirm everything and make any weather-related adjustments if needed.
Session Day
Time to Have Some Fun!
When we meet, we'll first go through your outfits together and decide which one works best with each location.
If you've already sent me photos beforehand, we'll have a plan ready to go, making the session flow even more smoothly.
Then it's time for the fun part!
If you're nervous about being in front of the camera, don't be. Almost every senior tells me they're a little anxious before we start - and almost every one of them says afterward that it was much easier (and way more fun!) than they expected.
I'll guide you through every pose, every movement, and every little adjustment along the way. You don't need any modeling experience - just come ready to laugh, have fun, and be yourself.
After Your Session
The Editing Process
After your session, I'll carefully hand-edit each image to create a beautiful, polished gallery that reflects your personality and this exciting season of your life.
This process typically takes about two weeks.
Once your gallery is ready, you'll receive a private online gallery where you can select your favorite images included with your package.
After you've made your selections, I'll prepare your final gallery, and you'll receive a new link where you can download your high-resolution images to print, share, and enjoy for years to come.
More Than Just Senior Pictures
My goal is to create more than beautiful photos.
I want you to leave your session feeling confident, celebrated, and excited—not just about your gallery, but about the entire experience.
Senior year only happens once, and these photographs will become part of your story for years to come. It's truly an honor to be trusted with capturing this incredible milestone.
I can't wait to create something beautiful together.
